Wigston (Magna) is a town just south of the city of Leicester with a population of around 32464.
This station covers the most southern area of the City (along with the newer Southern Station), as well as the nearby rural villages.
Since the second world war, the area has grown residentially with several large housing estates being built.
The Wigston and Oadby District is the smallest in area of Leicestershires nine districts.
